Ahold Delhaize, the parent of Stop & Shop, said October 13 that it was beginning a controlled restart of some systems following a cybersecurity incident disclosed the previous day.
The company said it had taken systems offline as a precaution and was working with outside cybersecurity specialists. It reported disruption affecting customers, employees and partners, with impacts varying by brand.
At the time of the update, Ahold said it had found no evidence that customer or employee data had been taken. The investigation was continuing; that statement is not a final determination about data exposure.
The company said its stores in Europe and the United States remained open. Reuters reported October 12 that Stop & Shop’s website had displayed a temporary outage notice. The available accounts do not establish that every local digital service is restored.
