East Lyme’s Zoning Commission has scheduled a public hearing for Thursday, October 15, at 7:30 p.m. at Town Hall, 108 Pennsylvania Avenue, on a proposed prohibition of data centers and a separate commercial-to-residential rezoning.
The town’s hearing notice says the data-center proposal would define data centers and accessory uses and place them among prohibited zoning uses. Commissioners may revise the proposed language in response to public testimony.
The second proposal concerns designated areas north of Black Point Road, changing their classification from CA Commercial to R-10 Residential. The notice describes the affected boundaries; residents should consult that document rather than assume every nearby property is included.
The October 15 agenda also lists proposed short-term-rental regulations for regular-meeting consideration. That item is separate from the two public hearings identified in the hearing notice.
These are proposals and scheduled proceedings, not approvals. The notice is dated September 17 and requests publication October 3 and October 12. No hearing outcome or final adoption is established by the documents reviewed.
