GROTON — The Town of Groton released an outside investigation of its police response to a July 11, 2025 confrontation involving YouTuber SeanPaul Reyes and an off-duty state trooper. The town’s October 1 announcement says the reviewed allegations were classified as exonerated or unfounded.

The redacted Daigle Law Group report examines probable cause, retaliation, abuse of authority, protected recording activity and other alleged misconduct. Its recommended findings say officers acted on law-enforcement considerations rather than to suppress Reyes’ criticism or recording.

The report also contains an additional finding about obtaining a complainant’s statement. It identifies statement-taking as an important investigative practice, even though the relevant departmental orders did not expressly require a written statement. That concern should not disappear from coverage simply because the report’s overall findings favor the officers.

Patch’s Chris Rhatigan describes the underlying dispute as an encounter at Sgt. Bryan Fahey’s home, where Reyes sought to question him about overtime. Patch also reports that Reyes challenged investigator Eric Daigle’s law-enforcement background and the review’s objectivity.

Lisa Backus’s Hearst account separately reports Reyes’ criticism and his stated intention to appeal his conviction. Those statements are attributed claims about the process, not findings that the investigation was legally invalid or proof that an appeal has been filed.

The administrative report also summarizes a September 3 court decision finding Reyes guilty of criminal trespass, with a suspended three-month sentence and one year of probation. This article distinguishes that court history, as reproduced in the released report, from the town’s internal-policy investigation.
