NORTH STONINGTON — Couples applying for a marriage license must plan for a minimum 48-hour wait under a rule effective October 1, the Town Clerk’s notice says.
The town advises applicants to leave enough time before their ceremony and return to the clerk’s office to collect the license after the required interval.
The notice’s pickup timetable may extend beyond the minimum waiting period because of office processing days. Couples should confirm their actual pickup date directly rather than assuming that a license becomes available exactly 48 hours later.
Questions can be directed to the Town Clerk at 860-535-2877, extension 121.
This is a newly effective service requirement, rather than a breaking-news alert.
