International criminal attorney Kip Hale returned to Pomfret School as its 2026 Lasell Visiting Alumnus, spending time with students and faculty, according to the school’s October 7 report.

Hale, a 1998 graduate, described a career that developed through experimentation, internships and international public-interest work. The school reports that his experience includes the tribunal for the former Yugoslavia, proceedings in Cambodia and investigations concerning Libya and Ukraine.

His advice emphasized trying different fields and learning from setbacks rather than assuming students must settle their entire career path while still in school.

The school identified Hale as chief of staff at The Reckoning Project and provided a recording of his lecture through its article. This is an Education report about a local school visit, not a report of a new court ruling or independent findings about the conflicts discussed. The account is based on the school’s description of the visit.
