Salem is accepting applications for a Board of Education vacancy until Friday, October 16, at 4 p.m., according to the town’s October 7 notice, rechecked October 13.

Residents interested in serving are asked to complete an application and submit a letter of interest to Jennifer Kayser, the board clerk and executive assistant to the superintendent. The town directs applicants to salemschools.org for the form.

The notice cites Town Charter Section 26D: the replacement must have the departing member’s political party or affiliation, or alternatively be an unaffiliated elector. It does not name the departing member or specify that affiliation, so applicants should confirm eligibility with the district.

Questions can be directed to Kayser at the district’s published number, 860-892-1223, extension 3201. The reviewed notice does not establish the appointment date or remaining term length.
