VERNON — Connecticut transportation officials will present proposed centerline rumble strips on Route 527, known locally as West Street, at a virtual public meeting October 27 at 6 p.m.

CTDOT says the meeting will include a presentation and questions, with access instructions on its project page. The presentation will be recorded and posted afterward.

The proposal aims to warn drivers who drift across the centerline. The agency says it does not anticipate right-of-way impacts.

Construction is anticipated in 2027, subject to funding and required approvals. CTDOT’s August notice estimates a $5,000 construction cost funded entirely by the state; this is a proposal rather than an announcement of completed work.

Written comments are due November 10. Residents should reference Project 0171-0531 and use the contacts in the official notice. Language assistance requests should be made at least five business days before the meeting.
