WINDHAM — A 21-year-old Sprague resident suffered serious injuries when a dump truck struck his car and overturned onto it on Route 32 October 7, according to published reports citing state police.
Patch reporter Chris Dehnel places the crash near Old Windham Road at 3:42 p.m. WTNH’s Gino De Angelis reports a trooper dispatch around 3:44 p.m.; those are different reported stages of the response, rather than evidence of separate crashes.
The accounts describe a southbound Subaru Impreza and a northbound Volvo dump truck. State police’s preliminary account says the truck moved left into the opposing lane, hit the Subaru and rolled onto its right side above the car.
A Dodge Journey traveling behind the Subaru then struck the dump truck during the rollover. Hearst identifies the truck driver as a 25-year-old Griswold resident and the Dodge’s occupants as Willimantic residents.
The Subaru driver was first taken to Backus Hospital and then transported by helicopter, according to the reports. The other occupants were reported to have minor injuries. No current condition has been verified for the seriously injured driver.
The available reporting does not explain why the truck crossed the lane or announce charges. These accounts share a police-report basis; multiple outlets do not substitute for a final crash investigation.
